We are on the brink of a massive change in how real estate is being sold! The industry, as a whole, continues to do business the traditional way although, consumers and the internet have changed the world we sell in. The entire industry is flooded with regurgitated content from every real estate agents coach pitch and broker training. Frankly the consumer is disappointed and tired of the value they receive for the money they pay and the hassle they go through.
The Internet has revealed that marketing effectiveness has changed, that consumer behavior has changed, and most importantly, the way people buy and sell houses.
Unfortunately, the core methods realtors cling to as principles of selling homes that no longer apply. Most realtors are a generalist at the core and are in charge of many different tasks in the real estate sales. These tasks are documents, negotiation, processing and managing transactions, staging the home, photos, marketing, putting up signs, understanding the market, knowing what a house will sell for, find buyers, find homes for buyers etc. This model is broken! This is why the team has emerged and begun to educate agents. Most other industries have specialists – not generalists! Real estate agents have lost the search process to internet companies called aggregators. Their saved time is now spent mostly on helping themselves create leads versus helping the consumer during the buying and selling process.
Ironically, the brokers help agents, trains and educates on issues on how to protect consumers. Unfortunately, this has lead brokers to be 100% focused on recruiting agents and not selling houses. Frankly, majority of real estate brokers are out of touch with consumers and how to best treat them when buying or selling real estate. They have not sold a home in years, yet train and guide our newest agents!
What has the industry become? Agents are only focused on growing their own business and brokers are focused on recruiting agents.
